NASCAR at Infinion Raceway

Back in the mid to late nineties when Jeff Gordon was up and coming my dad and I  would annually go to the NASCAR races at Sears Point Raceway. Since then, they have changed the name and and set up of the track, and we have sporadically gone back for NASCAR. The parking and traffic kept us away for the most part when we didn't go. Even though we're less than 10 miles from the track leaving early is mandatory to beat the traffic. Upon arrival the atmosphere is on edge. cars are in the garage revving their engines, helicopters are constantly flying drivers in, and there is an overall sense of excitement for the racing that is about to go down. NASCAR events are more than just watching the race though, there are tons of sponsors and venders who bring their trailers out for promotions and sales. While walking around the pit area, dash was just glued to this Orleans brass band. He was dancing as much as a baby at 10 months can while strapped into an ergo carrier. We headed back and forth from the tent to the track a few times and it was way more tolerable and manageable compared to years past. Dash had a blast hanging out and playing with his cousin CJ while he wasn't watching the race. He rarely has a dull moment, he really makes the most of every moment.  I have to say the overall experience was the best to date and a great way to see a 'Hometown Hero' out.

Father's Day at Land's End and Hard Rock

For Father's Day I really wanted to spend some time with just Trina and Dash somewhere we hadn't been before. In getting some ideas together I started searching for scenic areas we could maybe go walking or hiking. One of the first places that came up was Land's End in San Francisco. I have seen a lot of pictures of the area and it's surroundings but had never been there personally. The trails and walkways were busier than I expected and would have liked but with as many twists and turns we always had a chance to step aside for a break or a photo. On the way back to the car we noticed a few spouts quite a ways out and watched as a group of whales surfaced and dove repeatedly. While watching the whales, a pod of dolphins were heading inland and playing in the waves. I never would have imagined being able to see all that sea life so close to home.  After making a stop at the car we wandered over to The Cliff House for a few family pictures. Dash as you can see is learning how to give kisses. I can't wait to get back out to the trail earlier in the day under the cool fog and spend more time walking and exploring. And since we hadn't been to a Hard Rock Cafe in almost two years we decided to stop there on the way home.

Dash's First Baseball Game

We took a day trip to Oakland yesterday for the A's game against the Padres. I didn't really feel like going out during to a night game and have to do with a bigger crowd and more traffic. So we decided to do a weekday afternoon game and it worked out quite well for the overall experience. We left the house right before Dash's first nap of the day so he slept up until we got to the coliseum. He was so excited being around other kids and babies inside and watching the game as well. The A's lost but we had a great time at the ballpark.
